Didier Viodé is a visual artist of Beninese origin, born in Abidjan, living and working in France. A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Besançon, he explores a wide range of materials and mediums.
His work questions the human condition, identity, and migration. In 2007, he painted elongated silhouettes on large, unstretched canvases. In 2016, he created Les Migrants, a striking series of ink drawings on paper. During the pandemic, he produced a series of self-portraits, exploring introspection and isolation.
Drawing from digital media and daily life, he simplifies forms and emotions, seeking the essence of the Human Being. As an acute observer, he captures the anonymous and the invisible in society.
His work has been exhibited at 1:54 London and Paris, the Dakar Biennale, the Harn Museum in Florida, and internationally, inviting reflection on the link between the individual and the collective.
